Slatwall Panels

Show Filters

Slatwall panels are one of the most versatile fixtures used to display almost any type of merchandise. Each of our slatwall panels is 4′ tall x 8′ wide. Every panel will have a specified groove distance. This refers to the space between each groove.

In the slatwall industry, it’s common to use either a 3″ groove distance or 6″ groove distance. In each of these grooves, you have the option of including slatwall inserts, otherwise known as metal inserts or aluminum inserts. The reason retailers use slatwall inserts is to increase the weight a sheet of slatwall can confidently hold.

Your color options when buying from Displayarama is extensive. It includes black slatwall, white slatwall, black wood slatwall, white wood slatwall, cherry slatwall, maple slatwall, aluminum slatwall, or paintable slatwall.

The industries that use slatwall the most are all across the board – it’s a flexible way to display products! Some examples are smoke and vape shops, gift shops and resort stores, clothing boutiques, motorsports stores, gun stores, auto dealers and shops, jewelry stores, and many more.

General Information

What are slatwall panels and what are they made of?

Slatwall panels are a versatile wall paneling system with horizontal grooves designed for displaying a wide variety of merchandise. They are a popular choice for retail stores, showrooms, garages, and more. Our slatwall panels are made from Medium Density Fiberboard (MDF), a durable and dense engineered wood product. This makes them stronger and more durable than particle board, ensuring they can support significant weight.

What is the difference between 3-inch and 6-inch slat spacing?

Slat spacing refers to the distance between the centers of the horizontal grooves on a slatwall panel.
3-inch spacing: This is the industry standard and offers the most flexibility for merchandising, as it allows for a higher density of hooks and accessories.
6-inch spacing: This option provides a cleaner, more modern look, similar to shiplap. It’s a great choice for displaying larger items or for a more minimalist aesthetic.
Both 3-inch and 6-inch spaced panels use the same universal slatwall accessories.

What sizes do your slatwall panels come in?

Our slatwall panels are available in two standard sizes:
4 feet tall by 8 feet wide: Ideal for covering large wall areas with fewer seams.
4 feet tall by 4 feet wide: Easier for one person to handle and install.

How much weight can a slatwall panel hold?

The weight capacity of a slatwall panel depends on several factors, including the type of panel, the accessories used, and how the items are hung. As a general guideline:
Without aluminum inserts: Up to 30 lbs per horizontal groove.
With aluminum inserts: Up to 100 lbs per horizontal groove.
It’s important to note that the further an item extends from the wall, the less weight the panel can support. For example, a bracket extending 12 inches from the panel will support about half the weight of a bracket extending 6 inches.

What are slatwall inserts and do I need them?

Slatwall inserts are strips of aluminum that can be added to the grooves of your slatwall panels to increase their weight capacity. We highly recommend using inserts if you plan to display heavy items. Our inserts come pre-installed in the grooves, and we even include an extra insert for stacking panels.

Are your slatwall panels CARB compliant?

Yes, all of our slatwall panels are CARB (California Air Resources Board) compliant. This means they meet strict standards for formaldehyde emissions, making them a safe and environmentally friendly choice.

Installation

How do I install slatwall panels?

We offer in-depth video guides and tutorials to walk you through the installation process. You can find them . For a quick overview, the basic steps are:
1. Locate the studs in your wall.
2. Mark a level line for the top of the first panel.
3. Drill pilot holes through the panel and into the studs.
4. Secure the panel to the wall with screws.
5. Repeat for the remaining panels, ensuring they are level and properly aligned.

What screws should I use?

For wood or metal studs: We recommend 2-inch self-tapping screws.
For concrete walls: Use 3-inch Tapcon screws.
For maximum support, we recommend using at least 28 screws per 4×8 panel.

Is it easier to install 4×4 or 4×8 panels?

The ease of installation depends on the size of your project and the number of people you have helping.
4×4 panels: At approximately 45 lbs each, these are easier for one person to handle and install.
4×8 panels: Weighing around 90 lbs each, these panels require at least two people for installation but result in fewer seams for a more finished look.

Maintenance and Care

How do I clean my slatwall panels?

To keep your slatwall panels looking their best, we recommend regular dusting with a soft, dry cloth. For a deeper clean, you can use a mild cleaner like Windex, Murphy Oil Soap, or a mixture of water and a gentle detergent. Always apply the cleaner to a cloth, not directly to the panel, and avoid using abrasive cleaners or scrubbers.

Are slatwall panels waterproof?

Our MDF slatwall panels are not waterproof, but they are resistant to some humidity. We have many clients who use our slatwall in garages and beachside souvenir shops without any issues. However, we do not recommend installing them in areas with high moisture levels or direct contact with water.

What should I do if a panel gets damaged?

If a slatwall panel is damaged during delivery, please contact us immediately. We will work with you to find a solution, whether that means sending a replacement panel or offering a discount. Your satisfaction is our top priority.
