Got Questions?

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Everything you need to know about outfitting your sneaker store with DISPLAYARAMA fixtures.

What fixtures work best for displaying sneakers on walls?+
Slatwall panels are the go-to solution for sneaker wall displays. They let you install adjustable shelves at any height, so you can customize the spacing to fit different shoe box sizes or display shoes face-out for maximum visual impact. Pair them with slatwall shelf brackets and you have a fully flexible system you can reconfigure any time your product mix changes.
What gondola shelving sizes are available?+
We carry gondola shelving in a range of standard heights — 48", 54", 60", 72", and 84" — and in 36" or 48" widths. Both wall gondola (one-sided, sits against a wall) and double-sided gondola (freestanding aisle units) are available. Call 1-800-292-5227 and we'll help you pick the right configuration for your floor layout.
What slatwall colors are popular for sneaker stores?+
Black slatwall is the top choice for sneaker retailers — it creates a clean, modern backdrop that makes colorful footwear pop. White is a close second for stores going for a bright, minimalist aesthetic. We also carry maple and other finishes. The color you choose won't affect compatibility — all our slatwall uses standard 3" groove spacing that fits any of our accessories.
Do you offer bulk pricing for sneaker store buildouts?+
Yes. Orders of 4 or more units — whether that's slatwall panels, gondola shelving units, or a combination — qualify for bulk pricing. Fill out our bulk pricing form or call us directly at 1-800-292-5227 and we'll put together a quote for your full buildout.
Can gondola shelving be reconfigured after installation?+
Yes — that's one of the biggest advantages of gondola shelving for retail. The shelves are fully adjustable, so you can raise, lower, or remove them entirely to accommodate different product heights. The pegboard or slatwall backing panel can also be swapped out if you want to change the display style. It's a permanent but highly adaptable system.
What accessories do I need for a sneaker slatwall display?+
For sneaker stores, the most popular slatwall accessories are: shelf brackets (to hold shoes face-up or face-out), faceouts (for hanging accessories like laces and socks), hangrails and brackets (for apparel), and baskets (for clearance bins or small accessories). All of our accessories are designed to fit standard MDF slatwall with 3" or 6" groove spacing.
How long does it take to assemble gondola shelving?+
Typically 30–90 minutes per unit with two people. The first unit takes the longest as your team gets familiar with the process — each subsequent unit goes faster. We also offer assembled delivery for an additional fee if you want everything arriving store-ready.
What if fixtures arrive damaged?+
Every order ships with protective crating to prevent damage. In the rare event something arrives damaged, photograph the damage, note it on the delivery receipt, and send the photos to us. We file the freight claim and ship replacements at no cost to you. You are never responsible for damage that occurs in transit.
What are the standard slatwall panel dimensions?+
Our slatwall panels come in two sizes: 4'×8' (48"×96") — the industry standard, ¾" thick — and 4'×4' for smaller installs or easier solo handling. Both use the same groove spacing and are compatible with all our slatwall accessories.
What is the difference between 3" and 6" groove spacing?+
3" spacing is standard and gives you the most flexibility — you can position accessories at any height in 3" increments. 6" spacing has a cleaner, shiplap-style look with fewer grooves visible. Both are compatible with the same accessories and work equally well for sneaker displays. Most shoe stores choose 3" for maximum adjustability.
How much weight can slatwall hold?+
Without inserts: up to 30 lbs per groove. With aluminum inserts installed: up to 100 lbs per groove. For sneaker displays, standard panels without inserts are sufficient for most shelf and shoe display setups. If you're planning to load up shelves with heavy inventory, aluminum inserts are a worthwhile upgrade.
How long does slatwall installation take?+
Each sheet takes approximately 20–60 minutes to install depending on experience. A 4'×8' panel requires at least 2–3 people and 28+ screws per sheet. The 4'×4' panels can be handled by a single installer (they weigh about 45 lbs vs. 75–90 lbs for 4'×8'). We also offer professional installation anywhere in the country — call 1-800-292-5227 for a quote.
Can slatwall panels be cut to size?+
Yes. Use a circular saw or table saw with a fine-toothed blade. Mark your cuts on painter's tape first to reduce tearout. For electrical outlets or cutouts, a jigsaw or keyhole saw works well. Do not remove aluminum inserts before cutting — drill and cut directly through them.
Will pegboard hooks work in slatwall grooves?+
No — pegboard hooks are not compatible with slatwall. Slatwall requires dedicated slatwall accessories with the appropriate hook profile that locks into the grooves. Using the wrong hardware will result in accessories that don't sit flush or fall out. All of our slatwall accessories are designed specifically for standard MDF slatwall grooves.
What is the difference between wall gondola and double-sided gondola?+
Wall gondola is designed to sit flush against a wall with display on one side only. Double-sided gondola is a freestanding unit that creates an aisle — customers can shop from both sides. For sneaker stores, wall gondolas work great along the perimeter, while double-sided units are ideal for creating organized floor sections by brand, style, or size.
What materials are gondola shelving units made from?+
Heavy-duty steel with a powder coat finish, built for the rigors of commercial retail environments. The construction is designed to support heavy sneaker inventory without bowing or shifting over time. These are the same units you see in grocery stores and major retailers — built to last years of daily use.
How much weight can gondola shelves hold?+
Typically 200–400 lbs per shelf when properly installed, depending on the model. For a sneaker store context, that's more than enough capacity for even the heaviest inventory loads. Call us at 1-800-292-5227 for model-specific weight ratings.
What are gondola end caps and do I need them?+
End caps are units that cap the end of a gondola run. They're great for sneaker stores because they create additional display real estate at the end of each aisle row — perfect for new arrivals, featured styles, or promotional products. They also help create a finished, professional look for your floor layout. Not required, but highly recommended for any gondola run of 2+ units.
What checkout counter options are available for sneaker stores?+
We carry a range of checkout counters suited for retail environments — from compact single-station counters to larger configurations with under-counter storage. Many sneaker stores use the checkout area to display impulse-buy items like laces, care products, and accessories. Call 1-800-292-5227 and we'll help you find the right size and style for your store layout.
Can checkout counters be shipped pre-assembled?+
Yes — we offer assembled delivery for an additional fee. Your counter arrives fully assembled, palletized, and crated. It costs more to ship than standard delivery, but your team can have it in place and operational immediately without spending time on setup.
Do checkout counters qualify for bulk pricing?+
Yes — ordering 4 or more units across any combination of fixtures qualifies for bulk pricing. If you're outfitting multiple locations or a full store, fill out our bulk pricing form and we'll put together a complete quote. We can also schedule a call to walk through your store plans.
How are fixtures delivered?+
All fixtures ship via freight. Once your order ships, the freight carrier will contact you to schedule a delivery appointment — so you'll know exactly when to expect your order. We ship to the entire US and Canada.
What if something arrives damaged?+
If damage is visible at delivery: get an Exception Number from the driver, photograph the damage thoroughly, and do not refuse the shipment. If damage is discovered after delivery: call us immediately. In either case, send us your photos and we file the freight claim and ship replacements at no cost to you.
Do you offer volume discounts for full store buildouts?+
Yes — our bulk pricing kicks in at 4 or more units. For large buildouts covering slatwall, gondola, accessories, and checkout counters, we can put together a comprehensive quote. Call 1-800-292-5227 or fill out the form above and we'll walk through your plans and give you the best possible pricing.
Will you beat a competitor's price?+
Yes. Call us with the competitor's name and their price. We factor in the full delivered cost — including shipping — and beat it. Call 1-800-292-5227 and we'll take care of it.
