How much do slatwall panels cost?
Our core MDF slatwall panels range from $54.50 to $329.00 per panel depending on size and color. Custom laminate panels start at $465.00 and 3D textured panels start at $109.75. Adding aluminum inserts adds $80–$160 per panel depending on number of slats. The most affordable option is always the white 4×4 panel with 3" groove spacing.
What are the standard dimensions for slatwall panels?
Standard slatwall panels come in 4 feet tall × 8 feet wide (48"×96") and 4 feet tall × 4 feet wide (48"×48"). Both are ¾" thick. The 4×4 size is easier for one person to handle and allows shipping on smaller pallets, reducing freight costs.
What is the weight capacity of slatwall panels?
Standard MDF slatwall holds 30–40 lbs per groove without aluminum inserts. With aluminum inserts, weight capacity increases to 160 lbs per groove. We recommend aluminum inserts for heavy products like tools, auto parts, or anything over 30 lbs per hook.
Are your slatwall panels CARB compliant?
Yes — all of our MDF slatwall panels are CARB (California Air Resources Board) compliant, meaning they meet strict formaldehyde emission standards. They are a safe and environmentally friendly choice for any retail or commercial environment.
What screws should I use to install slatwall?
For wood or metal studs, use 2-inch self-tapping screws. For concrete walls, use 3-inch Tapcon screws. We recommend using at least 28 screws per 4×8 panel for maximum support. If your panels have aluminum inserts, use silver or chrome-head screws for a cleaner look.
What's the difference between 3-inch and 6-inch slat spacing?
3-inch spacing is the industry standard — it allows maximum hook density and flexibility for displaying a wide variety of merchandise. 6-inch spacing provides a cleaner, shiplap-style look ideal for larger items or minimalist displays. Both sizes use the same universal slatwall accessories.
Will you beat a competitor's price?

Do you cut slatwall panels to size?
Yes — DISPLAYARAMA is one of the only slatwall suppliers in the country that offers custom cut-to-size service. Just provide your wall dimensions and we handle the cutting before it ships. This can save you hundreds in handyman fees or equipment costs and makes installation faster.
What are slatwall panels made from?
Our slatwall panels are made from MDF (Medium Density Fiberboard) — a dense, durable engineered wood product. MDF is stronger and more consistent than particle board, making it better suited for retail and commercial display applications.
How much does a 4×8 slatwall panel weigh?
A standard 4×8 MDF slatwall panel weighs approximately 90 lbs. With aluminum inserts, weight can be slightly higher. A 4×4 panel weighs approximately 45 lbs. We strongly recommend two people for installing 4×8 panels.
Are slatwall panels waterproof?
Our MDF slatwall panels are not waterproof, but they handle moderate humidity well. Many clients use them in garages and beachside souvenir shops without issues. We do not recommend outdoor installation or direct water contact.
What are other names for slatwall panels?
Slatwall panels are also known as: slotwall, slat board, slot wall, grooved wall display, grooved fiber board, grooved board, slatted wall, and slot board. All of these refer to the same horizontal-grooved MDF wall panel system.
Is it easier to install 4×4 or 4×8 panels?
4×4 panels (45 lbs each) are easier for one person to manage solo. 4×8 panels (90 lbs each) require at least two people but result in fewer seams for a more finished look. For large walls, 4×8 is preferred by most contractors.
How long does it take to install each panel?
Installation takes approximately 20–60 minutes per sheet depending on experience and wall conditions. First-time installs take longer. Having panels pre-cut to size by DISPLAYARAMA significantly speeds up the process.
Can slatwall panels be cut for electrical outlets?
Yes — use a jigsaw or keyhole saw to cut around electrical outlets or switches. Mark your cut on painter's tape first to protect the panel surface during cutting.

What slatwall accessories are available?
We carry a full range of accessories: slatwall shelves, shelf brackets, hooks, bins, faceouts, baskets, hangrails & brackets, and shoe shelves. All are available on this page. Most accessories are universal and fit any standard MDF slatwall groove.
Do 3-inch and 6-inch slatwall use the same accessories?
Yes — both 3-inch and 6-inch groove-spaced panels use the same universal slatwall accessories. The accessory slides into the groove the same way regardless of groove spacing.
Will pegboard hooks work on slatwall?
No — pegboard hooks are not compatible with slatwall. You must use dedicated slatwall accessories. A proper slatwall hook should slide smoothly into the groove, hang straight, and not wobble. If it wobbles or doesn't seat properly, it's not a slatwall accessory.
Can I add aluminum inserts to panels I already own?
Yes — aluminum inserts can be purchased separately and added to installed panels at any time. Watch our video "Can I Buy Aluminum Inserts LATER?" in the section above for full details on the process.
How is slatwall delivered?
Slatwall panels ship via freight carrier. The driver will call to schedule a delivery appointment so you know exactly when to expect your order. For 4×8 panels, two people are required for manual offloading — 4×8 panels cannot use a liftgate. 4×4 panels CAN use a liftgate.
What if my slatwall arrives damaged?
If damage is visible on delivery: get an Exception Number from the driver, photograph everything, and note the damage on the delivery receipt. If damage is discovered after the driver leaves, call us immediately. We file the freight claim and ship replacements at no cost to you.

Yes — our core slatwall colors are available for same-day pickup at our Pompano Beach, FL warehouse. Call ahead to confirm availability and we'll have your order ready. Bring a truck or van — 4×8 panels are 8 feet long and 90 lbs each.
