Got Questions?
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Everything you need to know about outfitting your pet supply store with fixtures from DISPLAYARAMA.
What types of fixtures do pet supply stores typically need?
Most pet supply stores rely on a combination of gondola shelving for aisles, slatwall panels for wall displays, checkout counters for the register area, and slatwall accessories like hooks, shelves, and baskets to merchandise products. DISPLAYARAMA carries everything you need to outfit a full store from one supplier.
What is gondola shelving and why is it ideal for pet stores?
Gondola shelving is a freestanding retail display system with adjustable shelves on one or both sides — the industry standard for retail aisles. For pet supply stores, it's ideal because the shelves are fully adjustable to accommodate products of any height, from small pet treats to large bags of food, and the modular design lets you rearrange your floor plan as your inventory changes.
Do you offer bulk discounts for pet store fixture orders?
Yes — orders of 4 or more units qualify for bulk pricing. The more you order, the more you save. Call us at 1-800-292-5227 or fill out the bulk pricing form above and we'll put together a custom quote for your store.
Can I mix and match different types of fixtures in one order?
Absolutely. Many pet store owners order gondola shelving, slatwall panels, a checkout counter, and accessories together in a single order. We can combine shipping and provide a bulk quote across all product types. Call 1-800-292-5227 to discuss your full store layout and we'll help you figure out exactly what you need.
How long does assembly take for pet store fixtures?
Gondola shelving typically takes 30–90 minutes per unit with two people — your first unit takes the longest, and each one after goes faster. Slatwall panels run about 20–60 minutes per sheet to install. Checkout counters vary by size but are generally straightforward. All orders include assembly instructions, and we have step-by-step video guides on this page and on our YouTube channel.
What if something arrives damaged?
Photograph the damage, note it on the delivery receipt, and send the photos to us. We file the freight claim on your behalf and ship replacements at no cost. Every order ships in a free protective crate — damage-free delivery is our guarantee.
Do you ship to all US states?
Yes — we ship to all 50 states and Canada. Free delivery appointments are included with every order so you'll know exactly when to expect your fixtures. Call 1-800-292-5227 for a shipping quote.
Can I get fixtures delivered pre-assembled?
Yes — our Assembled Delivery option has our team fully assemble every unit before it ships. It comes at a higher shipping cost than standard freight, but it means your fixtures arrive ready to stock immediately. Great for store openings where every hour counts.
What gondola shelving heights and widths are available?
Standard heights are 48", 54", 60", 72", and 84". Widths are typically 36" or 48". Taller units maximize your vertical space and are ideal for large bag pet food or stacked products — shorter units work well along perimeter walls or near the front of the store to keep sightlines open.
What's the difference between wall gondola and double-sided gondola?
Wall gondola sits against a wall and displays products on one side only — ideal for perimeter shelving. Double-sided gondola stands freestanding in your aisles and displays products on both sides — ideal for center aisle runs. Most pet stores use a combination of both.
What material is gondola shelving made from?
Heavy-duty powder-coated steel built for commercial retail environments. The powder coat finish resists chipping and holds up to daily restocking, cleaning, and heavy product loads — including large bags of pet food and bulky aquarium or pet habitat supplies.
How much weight can the gondola shelves hold?
Typically 200–400 lbs per shelf when properly installed, depending on the model. This makes gondola shelving more than capable of handling heavy pet food bags, large aquarium tanks, and other bulky pet supplies.
Can gondola shelving be reconfigured after installation?
Yes — shelves are fully adjustable and can be moved up or down without tools in most configurations. This makes it easy to adapt your displays seasonally or when your product mix changes.
What are gondola end caps and do I need them?
Gondola end caps cap the ends of your aisle runs and create additional display space — great for promotional products, impulse buys, or seasonal items. They're a smart use of high-traffic aisle ends and are popular in pet stores for featuring featured brands or sale items.
What are the standard slatwall panel dimensions?
Standard panels are 4'×8' (48"×96") and ¾" thick. 4'×4' panels are also available for smaller walls or DIY installs. Slat spacing options are 3" (most flexible) or 6" (cleaner look) — both use the same accessories.
What colors are available for pet store slatwall?
We carry a wide range of colors including white, black, maple, and other finishes. White slatwall is the most popular choice for pet stores — it creates a bright, clean look that makes colorful pet product packaging pop. Black gives a premium, boutique feel ideal for upscale pet shops. We also offer custom slatwall panels if you need a specific color to match your brand.
How much weight can slatwall hold?
30 lbs per groove without aluminum inserts; up to 100 lbs per groove with aluminum inserts installed. For heavier pet products like bags of food, canned goods, or habitat equipment displayed on shelves, aluminum insert panels are recommended.
What slatwall accessories work best for pet stores?
The most commonly used accessories in pet stores are hooks for hanging leashes, collars, toys, and bagged treats; wire baskets for loose or bulk items; shelf brackets with wood or acrylic shelves for boxed products and food bags; and faceouts for packaged merchandise. All accessories use a universal design compatible with standard 3" and 6" MDF slatwall.
Can slatwall panels be cut to fit my wall?
Yes — panels can be cut to size with a circular or table saw using a fine-toothed blade. Mark cuts on painter's tape first to prevent chipping. Electrical outlets can be cut with a jigsaw or keyhole saw.
Do you install slatwall?
Yes — we offer installation services anywhere in the country. Call 1-800-292-5227 for a quote based on your store's square footage and wall count.
What checkout counter styles do you offer for pet stores?
We offer a range of custom and standard checkout counter configurations including L-shaped, straight, and wrap-around styles. Sizes range from compact single-cashier units to full multi-register setups. All are built from commercial-grade materials and designed for high-traffic retail use. Call 1-800-292-5227 to discuss the right configuration for your store layout.
Can checkout counters be customized?
Yes — we offer custom checkout counters in various sizes, configurations, and finishes to match your store's branding. Custom graphics, logo panels, and color finishes are available. Contact us for a custom quote.
Can I add impulse-buy displays to the checkout area?
Absolutely — the checkout area is prime real estate for impulse buys. Many pet stores use small slatwall sections, spinner racks, or tabletop displays near the counter for treats, small toys, and seasonal items. We can recommend accessories that integrate with your checkout counter setup.
How long does checkout counter assembly take?
Assembly time varies by size and configuration but most units are manageable with two people in a few hours. Each order includes assembly instructions and our video guides cover the process in detail. You can also opt for our Assembled Delivery service and have the counter ship ready to place.
How is slatwall delivered — can it use a lift gate?
Slatwall ships by freight. 4'×4' panels can use a lift gate — two people can typically offload without heavy equipment. 4'×8' panels cannot use a lift gate and must be manually offloaded one at a time by at least two people. The driver will schedule a delivery appointment so you can have help ready.
Will you beat a competitor's price?
Yes. Call us with the competitor's name and price — we factor in the full delivered cost and beat it. 1-800-292-5227.
How do bulk discounts work?
Orders of 4 or more units qualify for bulk pricing on gondola shelving and display cases. For slatwall panels, orders of 10 or more 4'×8' sheets qualify. Fill out the bulk pricing form at the top of this page or call us directly at 1-800-292-5227 to get your quote.
What if my slatwall arrives with hidden damage?
If damage is visible on delivery, get an Exception Number from the driver, photograph everything, and you may refuse shipment. If hidden damage is discovered after delivery, call us immediately. We work with the freight carrier to resolve it at no cost to you.
How far in advance should I order before my store opening?
We recommend ordering at least 2–3 weeks before your target setup date to allow for freight transit time and assembly. If you're on a tight timeline, call us at 1-800-292-5227 — we'll check current stock levels and work with you on the fastest possible delivery schedule.
Are your fixtures in stock or made to order?
We keep hundreds of units in stock at our Pompano Beach, FL warehouse — always ready to ship. No waiting on manufacturing lead times. Custom items (custom slatwall colors, custom checkout counters) do have a production timeline — contact us for details.
