Everything comic shop owners ask us before ordering. Can't find your answer? Call us at 1-800-292-5227 — we pick up instantly.

What display fixtures does a comic shop need?+
Comic shops typically need a layered fixture setup. Gondola shelving is the foundation — double-sided runs through the floor create organized sections for trades, manga, and back issues, while wall gondola handles new release shelving and ongoing series. Slatwall panels are essential for wall coverage — hang hooks for bagged comics, face-out shelves for new releases and featured titles, and peg hooks for merchandise and accessories. Display cases are critical for graded slabs, key issues, and high-value collectibles you want visible but secure. Slatwall accessories let you fine-tune every inch of wall space to match your store's mix of product.
What gondola shelving height works best for a comic shop?+
For comic shops, 72" to 84" gondola is the standard along walls — comic books are lightweight, so you can go tall without safety issues, and taller units give you more organized space for back issues by title and number. For mid-floor runs where you want customers to be able to see across the store, 60" to 72" double-sided gondola is ideal. Many shops run 84" wall gondola on the perimeter and 60" double-sided in the floor for browsability.
What display cases are best for graded comics and slabs?+
For graded slabs and key issues, Full Vision or Extra Vision display cases are the top choice. Extra Vision cases — glass on the front, top, and all four sides — give maximum multi-angle visibility so customers can admire the book from any direction. Every case includes a locking mechanism and two keys. LED lighting (standard on Extra Vision cases) dramatically improves how slabs and raw keys present under glass.
What slatwall colors work best in a comic shop?+
We carry 13 slatwall colors and finishes. For comic shops, matte black or black woodgrain are extremely popular — they create a bold, dramatic backdrop that makes colorful comic covers and merchandise pop. White gloss or white matte work well for brighter, more open store aesthetics. The raw MDF paintable panel is also available if you want to match a specific brand color or create a fully custom look for your shop.
What slatwall accessories work best for merchandising comics?+
For comic shops the most useful accessories are: single-prong and double-prong hooks for bagged and boarded back issues; face-out shelves for new release displays and featured titles with cover art visible; literature holders and tilt bins for browsable back issue walls; peg hooks for merchandise, statues, and accessories; and wire baskets for dollar bins and clearance inventory. All accessories use the universal groove format and fit any of our slatwall panels.
Do you offer bulk discounts for comic shop buildouts?+
Yes — order 4 or more units of any fixture and you qualify for bulk wholesale pricing. The more you order, the more you save. Fill out the bulk pricing form above or call 1-800-292-5227 and we'll put together a complete store quote based on your fixture list.
Can slatwall panels be cut to fit my wall?+
Yes. Standard panels are 4'×8', but they can be cut to any custom dimension with a circular saw, table saw, or fine-toothed blade. Mark cuts on painter's tape to prevent chipping the finish. For outlets or switches, use a jigsaw or keyhole saw. We also carry 4'×4' half-panels if you're working with shorter wall sections or prefer a lighter panel (about 45 lbs vs 75–90 lbs for a full sheet).
How long does assembly take?+
Display cases take roughly 45–90 minutes each — the first one takes longest and each subsequent unit goes faster once you know the process. Slatwall runs 20–60 minutes per 4'×8' panel depending on your crew. Gondola shelving is typically 30–90 minutes per unit with two people. If you'd rather skip assembly entirely, our assembled delivery option ships everything ready to place and stock immediately.
What is the difference between wall and double-sided gondola?+
Wall gondola has a display surface on one side and is designed to run against the perimeter walls of your store. Double-sided gondola is freestanding and displays product on both sides — ideal for building out back issue aisles or trade paperback sections through the center of your comic shop floor. Most shops use wall gondola on the perimeter and double-sided in the floor.
What heights and widths are available?+
Standard heights: 48", 54", 60", 72", and 84". Widths: 36" or 48". For comic shops, 84" wall gondola on the perimeter is most common for maximizing back issue capacity, with 60"–72" double-sided units through the floor for browsable aisles with open sightlines.
Can gondola shelves be adjusted for different product types?+
Yes — gondola shelves slide on the upright and are fully adjustable at any time without tools. This is particularly useful in a comic shop where shelf spacing needs to vary between standard comic size, trade paperbacks, oversized hardcovers, and manga. You can reconfigure sections on the fly as your inventory evolves.
What are gondola end caps and are they worth it for comic shops?+
End caps attach to the ends of gondola runs facing the aisle — prime visual real estate in any store. In comic shops they're perfect for new release displays, featured titles, variant cover spotlights, and limited-run merchandise. Customers naturally look at end caps as they move through the floor. If you're running gondola aisles, end caps are almost always worth adding.
What is the difference between Full Vision and Extra Vision cases?+
Full Vision cases have glass on the front and top with solid sides — great for wall-side placement where customers approach from one direction. Extra Vision cases have glass on the front, top, and all four sides, giving 360° visibility — the best choice for freestanding island placement in a comic shop where customers walk around the case to view graded slabs and key issues from all angles.
Do display cases come with locks?+
Yes — every display case ships standard with a plunger or ratchet lock and two keys. Non-negotiable for comic shops displaying high-grade slabs, CGC/CBCS graded books, raw keys, and signed copies. You get full visibility without sacrificing security.
Can I get LED lighting inside the display cases?+
Yes. Extra Vision cases come standard with 6,000K white LED lighting and mirrored doors. Custom LED can also be added to the sides, top, or all around the interior. For comic shops displaying slabs, proper lighting is essential — it highlights the label grade, brings out the cover art, and makes high-value books impossible to walk past without stopping.
What display case sizes are available?+
Full Vision: 48"×18"×38", 70"×18"×38", and 48"×18"×78" (tall tower). Extra Vision: 48"×20"×38", 70"×20"×38", and 48"×20"×72". All sizes are in stock at our Pompano Beach warehouse and ready to ship immediately. The 70" cases are especially popular in comic shops for maximum slab display capacity.
What are the standard slatwall panel dimensions?+
Standard panels are 4'×8' (48"×96"), ¾" thick. We also carry 4'×4' half-panels for shorter wall sections or for easier solo installation (about 45 lbs vs 75–90 lbs for a full sheet). Both sizes use the same universal accessories and groove spacing.
How much weight can slatwall hold?+
Without inserts: 30 lbs per groove. With aluminum inserts (included on most of our panels): 100 lbs per groove. More than enough for shelves of trade paperbacks, statue displays, merchandise hooks, and tilt bins loaded with back issues.
What is the difference between 3" and 6" slat spacing?+
3" spacing gives you more groove positions for maximum accessory placement flexibility — the right choice for most comic shops where you're hanging a variety of hooks, shelves, and tilt bins at different heights. 6" spacing has a cleaner, shiplap-style look with fewer grooves and works well if the wall display is more fixed and aesthetic-forward. For working retail, 3" spacing is typically the better pick.
Do you install slatwall?+
Yes — we offer professional slatwall installation anywhere in the country. Call 1-800-292-5227 for a quote. Whether you're opening a new comic shop or refreshing an existing one, our installation team handles the complete job and leaves it ready for accessories and product.
How is my order shipped?+
All orders ship via freight. Your fixtures are packaged in boxes, palletized, and protected in a custom crate built specifically for your order. Assembly instructions are included. The freight carrier contacts you before delivery to schedule a free appointment — no surprise freight drops at your store.
What if something arrives damaged?+
We replace it at no cost. If damage is visible on delivery, photograph everything and note it on the delivery receipt before the driver leaves — then send us the photos. If damage is found after delivery, call us immediately at 1-800-292-5227. We file the freight claim and ship a replacement. You're fully covered either way.
How quickly can I receive my order?+
Most orders ship within 1–3 business days of payment. Freight transit time varies by destination (typically takes 1 - 2 weeks). The carrier will schedule a delivery appointment so you know your exact window. If you have a hard opening date, call us at 1-800-292-5227 and we'll do everything we can to meet your timeline.
Will you beat a competitor's price?+
Yes. Give us the competitor's name and price and we'll factor in the total cost — including freight — and beat it. We've been in business since 1980 and our warehouse volume allows us to price competitively, especially on bulk orders for full shop buildouts.
