Got Questions?

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Everything hardware store owners ask us before placing their first order.

What fixtures does DISPLAYARAMA sell for hardware stores?+
We supply gondola shelving, slatwall panels, checkout counters, slatwall accessories, and custom slatwall panels — everything you need to merchandise a hardware store from the floor up. All products are commercial-grade and built to handle heavy products and high foot traffic.
How do I qualify for bulk pricing?+
Orders of 4 or more units qualify for bulk pricing. Fill out our bulk pricing form or call 1-800-292-5227 and we'll put a custom quote together based on your full order.
Can you help me plan my entire store layout?+
Yes. Call 1-800-292-5227 and we can walk through your floor plan, recommend aisle configurations, gondola heights, and the right slatwall setup for your wall space. We've done this for thousands of retailers.
How long has DISPLAYARAMA been in business?+
DISPLAYARAMA has been supplying retail fixtures since 1980 — over 40 years serving store owners across the US. We're based in Pompano Beach, FL and have outfitted more than 20,000 retail locations.
What if something arrives damaged?+
Photograph the damage, note it on the delivery receipt, and send us the photos. We file the freight claim and ship replacements at no cost to you. Our crating is designed to prevent damage, but we have you covered regardless.
Do you ship outside of the continental US?+
Yes — we ship anywhere in the United States and Canada. All freight orders include a scheduled delivery appointment so you know exactly when to expect your fixtures.
What gondola shelving works best for a hardware store?+
Hardware stores typically use double-sided gondola for center aisles and wall gondola along perimeter walls. Taller units (72"–84") maximize vertical space for bulky product categories. Call us and we'll help you figure out the right mix for your square footage.
Can gondola shelving support heavy hardware products?+
Yes. Our commercial-grade gondola shelving is built from heavy-duty steel with a powder coat finish and typically supports 200–400 lbs per shelf when properly installed — more than adequate for tools, fasteners, plumbing supplies, and other dense hardware merchandise.
What heights and widths are available?+
Standard heights are 48", 54", 60", 72", and 84". Widths are typically 36" or 48". Hardware stores commonly run 72" or 84" units to give maximum shelf space for large product assortments.
What are gondola end caps and do I need them?+
End caps are units that cap the end of a gondola run, creating additional display space and prime merchandising real estate. In hardware stores they're excellent for seasonal promotions, featured products, and high-margin impulse items. Highly recommended for any aisle layout.
How long does gondola assembly take?+
Most gondola units take 30–90 minutes to assemble with two people. The first unit always takes longest — subsequent units go much faster once you've done one. Assembly videos are in the section above.
Can shelves be repositioned as my product mix changes?+
Yes — gondola shelves are fully adjustable without tools. You can reposition them at any time as seasons change or your product assortment evolves. It's one of the biggest advantages of gondola shelving over fixed shelving systems.
How do hardware stores typically use slatwall panels?+
Hardware stores use slatwall most often on perimeter walls, end caps, and pegboard replacement sections. It's ideal for displaying hand tools, packaged fasteners, electrical accessories, and anything that hangs. The hook and basket system makes it easy to reconfigure displays without any drilling.
Is slatwall stronger than pegboard for heavy hardware products?+
Significantly. Standard slatwall holds 30 lbs per groove without inserts — already much more than pegboard. With aluminum inserts, that increases to 100 lbs per groove, making it suitable for heavier tool displays and bulky packaged goods.
What sizes do the panels come in?+
Panels come in 4'×8' and 4'×4' sizes, both ¾" thick MDF. The 4'×4' panels (around 45 lbs) can be installed solo. The 4'×8' panels work best with 2–3 people and cover more wall space with fewer seams.
Can slatwall be cut to fit around electrical outlets or windows?+
Yes. Panels can be cut with a circular or table saw using a fine-toothed blade. For outlet cutouts, a jigsaw or keyhole saw works well. Mark your cuts on painter's tape first to get a clean line.
What slatwall accessories work well for hardware stores?+
The most popular accessories for hardware stores are hooks of various lengths, wire baskets, flat shelves, and faceouts. Hooks handle packaged hardware, baskets work well for loose or bulk items, and flat shelves are great for boxed products and power tools.
Do you offer custom slatwall panels for branded walls?+
Yes. Custom slatwall panels can be printed with your store's branding, colors, or graphics. This is popular for feature walls, brand sections, and checkout areas where you want a polished, professional look. Call 1-800-292-5227 to discuss options.
What checkout counter configurations work best for hardware stores?+
Hardware stores often benefit from wider counter surfaces to accommodate large or bulky items at checkout, along with integrated display shelving for impulse buys like batteries, blades, and small accessories. L-shaped configurations work well for stores with higher transaction volume.
Can checkout counters be customized to my store's dimensions?+
Yes. Call 1-800-292-5227 to discuss custom sizing, finishes, and configurations. We build to fit your specific checkout area so you're not working around a counter that doesn't quite fit.
Are counters shipped assembled or flat-pack?+
Both options are available. Flat-pack is the more cost-effective choice — you assemble on-site with the included instructions. Pre-assembled costs more to ship due to size but saves time, which is valuable if you're on a tight opening timeline.
Do checkout counters qualify for bulk pricing?+
Yes — ordering 4 or more units qualifies. If you're outfitting multiple checkout lanes or multiple store locations, call us at 1-800-292-5227 for a consolidated multi-unit quote.
How is my order shipped?+
All orders ship via freight carrier. Products are boxed, palletized, and protected in a crate. The freight driver calls ahead to schedule a delivery appointment — you'll know exactly when to expect it and can have staff ready to receive the shipment.
Will you beat a competitor's price?+
Yes. Call us with the competitor's name and price. We factor in the full cost including shipping and will beat it. We've been doing this since 1980 and we stand behind our pricing.
How long does delivery take?+
Most orders within the continental US arrive within 5–10 business days. The freight carrier will reach out to schedule a delivery appointment before arrival. We'll keep you updated throughout the process.
Do 4'×8' slatwall panels require a lift gate?+
No — 4'×8' panels must be manually offloaded one at a time by two people. 4'×4' panels can use a lift gate. If your location doesn't have a loading dock, let us know at time of order so we can plan the delivery correctly.
How do I place an order?+
You can order directly on our website, fill out the bulk pricing form for a custom quote, or call us at 1-800-292-5227. We answer immediately during business hours and are happy to walk you through the right fixture setup for your store.
Can I order for multiple store locations?+
Absolutely. Call 1-800-292-5227 and we'll set up a multi-location order with consolidated bulk pricing. We regularly work with hardware chains and multi-unit operators — it's a streamlined process on our end.
