Got Questions?

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Everything music store owners ask us before placing their order.

What types of display cases work best for a music instrument store?+
It depends on what you're displaying. Extra Vision cases — with glass on all four sides — are ideal for high-value instruments, boutique guitars, or premium accessories where customers want to view from every angle. Full Vision cases (glass front, top, and back) are great for accessories, picks, pedals, and smaller items along a wall run. Many music stores use a combination of both.
Can slatwall hold heavy instruments like guitars and basses?+
Yes — standard MDF slatwall supports 30 lbs per groove without inserts and up to 100 lbs per groove with aluminum inserts. For hanging guitars and basses with dedicated instrument hooks, slatwall with aluminum inserts is strongly recommended. It distributes weight evenly across the groove and prevents sagging over time.
What slatwall accessories are most popular in music stores?+
The most commonly used accessories in music retail include guitar and instrument hooks, hooks and faceouts for packaged accessories, wire baskets for picks, strings, and capos, wood or acrylic shelves for pedals and small electronics, and hang rail brackets for hanging larger items. Most slatwall accessories are universal — they fit any standard MDF grooved panel.
Do you offer bulk discounts for music store fixture orders?+
Yes. Orders of 4 or more display cases or 10 or more slatwall panels qualify for bulk pricing. Call us at 1-800-292-5227 or fill out the bulk pricing form above and we'll put together a custom quote for your store layout.
How long does assembly take for display cases?+
Most display cases take 45–90 minutes per unit to assemble. The first one takes the longest as you get familiar with the process — each subsequent case goes faster. Assembly instructions are included with every order, and we have assembly videos in the section above to walk you through it step by step.
Can I get display cases pre-assembled?+
Yes — we offer assembled delivery for an additional fee. We assemble every unit at our warehouse, carefully crate it, and ship it ready for immediate placement. The shipping cost is higher due to the larger crate dimensions, but it saves your team significant time on setup day.
What gondola shelving sizes are available for music stores?+
We stock gondola shelving in standard heights of 48", 54", 60", 72", and 84" with widths of 36" or 48". For music stores, double-sided gondola runs are popular for center-aisle instrument accessories, sheet music, and books. Wall gondola is a great choice for lining the perimeter with additional shelving behind your slatwall.
What if my fixtures arrive damaged?+
Every order ships with free protective crating — damage is rare. But if it happens: photograph the damage, note it on the delivery receipt before the driver leaves, and send us the photos. We will file the freight claim and ship replacements at no cost to you. You will not be left without fixtures.
What is the difference between Full Vision and Extra Vision display cases?+
Full Vision cases have a glass front, top, and solid sides — great for a clean wall-run look where visibility from one direction is primary. Extra Vision cases have glass on all four sides, including the sides — ideal when customers approach from multiple angles, like in a freestanding or island configuration. Extra Vision cases are the go-to choice for showcasing premium instruments.
What lighting options are available?+
We offer custom LED lighting at 6,000K bright white, which gives instruments and accessories a crisp, professional look. Lights can be installed on the sides, top, or all around the interior. RGB color-changing LEDs are also available if you want to create an atmosphere in your showroom.
Do display cases come with locks?+
Yes — every display case ships with a plunger or ratchet lock and two keys as standard. Wall-mounted cases also have built-in locks. Security is a given, not an upgrade.
Can I customize cases to match my store's look?+
Yes. Cases are available in black, white, maple, and cherry frames. We can also add custom graphics, logos, or branded panels on the sides or kickplates to match your store's aesthetic. Call 1-800-292-5227 to discuss custom options.
What display case sizes are available?+
Our most common sizes: Full Vision — 48"×18"×38", 70"×18"×38", 48"×18"×78". Extra Vision — 48"×20"×38", 70"×20"×38", 48"×20"×72". Custom sizes are available — call us to discuss your floor plan.
How many display cases do you have in stock?+
We carry between 200 and 1,000 display cases across all variations at any given time. If you need a large quantity or a specific color configuration, call us at 1-800-292-5227 and we'll confirm availability for your exact order.
What are the standard dimensions of slatwall panels?+
Standard panels are 4'×8' (48"×96"), ¾" thick. We also carry 4'×4' panels, which are easier for solo installers — they weigh roughly 45 lbs compared to 75–90 lbs for the full 4'×8' sheet.
What slat spacing should I choose for a music store?+
3" spacing is the most popular for music retail — it gives you maximum flexibility for placing hooks, shelves, and brackets at different heights to accommodate everything from small picks to large instrument hangers. 6" spacing creates a cleaner, shiplap-style look but limits positioning flexibility. Both sizes use the same universal accessories.
Can slatwall be cut to fit custom dimensions?+
Yes — panels can be cut with a circular saw or table saw using a fine-toothed blade. Mark your cuts on painter's tape to prevent chipping. Panels can also be cut around electrical outlets using a jigsaw or keyhole saw.
What colors are available for slatwall panels?+
We offer slatwall in a wide range of colors and finishes. Black is especially popular for music stores — it gives the wall a sleek, premium look that makes instruments pop visually. White, maple, cherry, and other finishes are also available. Custom slatwall panels with printed graphics are available for branded walls.
Do you install slatwall?+
Yes — we offer professional installation anywhere in the country. Call 1-800-292-5227 for a quote. Our installation team handles everything from surface prep to final panel alignment, so your store is ready to merchandise as soon as we're done.
How long does slatwall installation take?+
Each 4'×8' sheet takes roughly 20–60 minutes to install once you're set up. The first panel takes the longest as you find your level and anchor points. After that, each panel goes much faster. For a full store wall, plan for at least two people — the 4'×8' sheets are heavy and awkward to position alone.
What is gondola shelving and how is it used in music stores?+
Gondola shelving is a freestanding retail display system with adjustable shelves on one or both sides. In music stores, it's commonly used for center-aisle runs to display sheet music, books, accessories, and smaller instruments. Double-sided gondola lets customers browse from both sides, making it ideal for high-traffic areas. Wall gondola lines the perimeter and can pair with slatwall backing for added versatility.
What heights and widths are available?+
Standard heights available are 48", 54", 60", 72", and 84". Standard widths are 36" or 48". For music stores, 60" or 72" is the most common — tall enough to create defined aisles while keeping sightlines manageable for staff. Call us if you need a non-standard size.
How much weight can gondola shelves hold?+
Our gondola shelving is built from heavy-duty steel with a powder coat finish, designed for commercial retail environments. Typical weight capacity is 200–400 lbs per shelf when properly installed. More than enough for instruments, amplifiers, and heavy accessories.
Can gondola shelving be reconfigured after setup?+
Yes — shelves are fully adjustable and can be repositioned to any height along the upright. If your product mix changes — for example if you start carrying larger boxed equipment — you can simply move the shelves without any tools. End cap units can also be added to create additional merchandising space at the end of each gondola run.
How is my order delivered?+
All orders ship via freight. The carrier will contact you to schedule a delivery appointment — free of charge. You'll know exactly what day and time your order arrives. Products are packaged in boxes, palletized, and shipped in protective crating to prevent damage in transit.
Do you ship outside the continental US?+
Yes — we ship to all US states and Ca. Call us at 1-800-292-5227 for shipping quotes to non-contiguous locations.
Will you beat a competitor's price?+
Yes. Call us with the competitor's name and price and we'll factor in the full landed cost — product plus shipping — and beat it. We've been doing this since 1980 and we don't lose on price. Call 1-800-292-5227.
How quickly can my order ship?+
We keep a large inventory in stock at our Pompano Beach, FL warehouse. Most orders ship within 1–3 business days of order confirmation (1-2 weeks to deliver). Transit time varies by destination. Call 1-800-292-5227 if you have a hard deadline — we'll work with you on timing.
What if something arrives damaged?+
Photograph the damage before moving anything. Note the damage on the delivery receipt before the driver leaves. Send us the photos and we'll file the freight claim and ship replacements at no cost. If the damage is hidden (not visible until after unpacking), call us immediately — don't wait. 1-800-292-5227.
Can slatwall panels be offloaded with a lift gate?+
4'×4' panels CAN use a lift gate. 4'×8' panels cannot — they must be manually offloaded one at a time by two people. If you're ordering 4'×8' panels, make sure you have help available on delivery day. Display cases and gondola shelving ship palletized and can typically be moved with a pallet jack.
