Got Questions?

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Everything toy store owners ask us before ordering. Can't find your answer? Call us at 1-800-292-5227 — we pick up instantly.

What display fixtures does a toy store need?+
Most toy stores are built around a core set of fixtures. Gondola shelving is the backbone — double-sided runs in the center of the floor and wall gondola around the perimeter are the most efficient way to maximize product capacity. Slatwall panels are ideal for wall coverage and hanging smaller items like action figures, games, and packaged toys. Display cases are great for collectibles, high-value items, or impulse buys at the register. Checkout counters with glass fronts double as last-chance display space. And slatwall accessories — hooks, shelves, baskets — let you merchandise every square inch of wall space.
What gondola shelving height is best for a toy store?+
For toy stores, 60" to 72" gondola is the most popular range. It's tall enough to maximize product capacity while still keeping sightlines open across the floor — important for parents watching kids. Wall gondola around the perimeter can go taller (up to 84") since visibility across the store isn't an issue there. For kids' sections, shorter 48" gondola keeps products within reach of younger shoppers.
What slatwall colors work best for toy stores?+
We carry 13 slatwall colors and finishes. For toy stores, white gloss or white woodgrain are by far the most popular — they create a bright, clean backdrop that lets colorful toy packaging pop. Maple and natural wood tones work well for boutique or educational toy stores going for a warmer aesthetic. The raw MDF paintable panel is also an option if you want to match a custom brand color exactly.
Do you offer bulk discounts for toy store buildouts?+
Yes — order 4 or more units of any fixture and you qualify for bulk wholesale pricing. The more you order, the more you save. Call us at 1-800-292-5227 or fill out the bulk pricing form above and we'll put together a full store quote.
How much weight can gondola shelves hold?+
Our gondola shelving is built from heavy-duty steel with a powder coat finish, rated for commercial retail environments. Shelf capacity typically ranges from 200–400 lbs per shelf when properly installed on the uprights — more than sufficient for boxed toys, board games, and even heavier ride-on items on lower shelves.
Can slatwall panels be cut to fit my wall dimensions?+
Yes. Standard panels are 4'×8', but they can be cut to any dimension using a circular saw, table saw, or fine-toothed blade. Mark your cuts on painter's tape first to prevent chipping. For outlets or switches, use a jigsaw or keyhole saw. We also offer 4'×4' half-panels if you're working with shorter wall sections or prefer a lighter panel for solo installation.
What slatwall accessories work best for merchandising toys?+
For toy stores, the most useful accessories are: hooks and faceouts for packaged and hanging toys; wire baskets for loose or bin-sold items; wood or glass shelves for boxed games, LEGO sets, and display pieces; and waterfall faceouts for action figures and impulse items at eye level. All accessories use the standard universal groove format and work with any of our slatwall panels.
How long does assembly take?+
Display cases take roughly 45–90 minutes each — the first one takes the longest, then each subsequent one goes faster. Slatwall installation runs 20–60 minutes per 4'×8' panel depending on your crew size. Gondola shelving is typically 30–90 minutes per unit with two people. If you'd rather skip assembly entirely, our assembled delivery option ships every unit ready to roll off the truck.
What is the difference between wall and double-sided gondola?+
Wall gondola is designed to run along a wall — it displays product on one side only and typically goes against the perimeter of your store. Double-sided gondola is freestanding and displays product on both sides, making it the go-to choice for aisle runs through the center of your toy store floor. Most toy stores use both: wall gondola around the perimeter and double-sided in the middle.
What heights and widths are available?+
Standard heights: 48", 54", 60", 72", and 84". Widths: 36" or 48". For toy stores, 60"–72" double-sided runs in aisles are most common, with 84" wall gondola around the perimeter to maximize capacity. 48" gondola works well in children's sections where reachability matters.
Can gondola shelves be reconfigured after setup?+
Yes — gondola shelves slide on the upright and are fully adjustable at any time without tools. This makes seasonal resets, new product line introductions, and holiday floor changes fast and easy. The pegboard or slatwall backing panels can also be swapped to match your store's look.
What are gondola end caps and should I use them?+
End caps attach to the ends of a gondola run and face the aisle, creating high-visibility display positions. They're prime real estate in any retail store — perfect for featured toys, seasonal promotions, new releases, or impulse buys. If you're running gondola aisles, end caps are almost always worth adding.
What are the standard slatwall panel dimensions?+
Standard panels are 4'×8' (48"×96"), ¾" thick. We also carry 4'×4' half-panels for shorter wall runs or solo installs. A full 4'×8' panel weighs 75–90 lbs; a 4'×4' panel is about 45 lbs — manageable for a one-person install.
How much weight can slatwall hold?+
Standard MDF slatwall without inserts holds 30 lbs per groove. With aluminum inserts (included on most of our panels), capacity jumps to 100 lbs per groove — plenty for shelves loaded with boxed toys, games, and packaged merchandise.
What is the difference between 3" and 6" slat spacing?+
3" spacing is standard — it gives you more groove positions to hang hooks and accessories, offering maximum flexibility for merchandising. 6" spacing has a cleaner, shiplap-style look with fewer grooves. Both use the same universal accessories. For most toy stores, 3" spacing is the better choice since flexibility is key when product assortments change frequently.
Do you install slatwall?+
Yes — we offer professional slatwall installation anywhere in the country. Call 1-800-292-5227 for a quote. Whether it's a new store buildout or a refresh of an existing wall, our team handles the full install and leaves it ready to merchandise.
What display cases work best in a toy store?+
For toy stores, Full Vision display cases are most common — glass front and top for clear visibility of collectibles, action figures, die-cast cars, and premium items. Extra Vision cases (glass on all four sides) work great at gondola end caps or freestanding island positions where customers walk around them. Both are available in 48" and 70" widths.
Do display cases come with locks?+
Yes — every display case ships standard with a plunger or ratchet lock and two keys. This is important for toy stores carrying high-value collectibles, limited-edition items, or anything that's a theft risk in a high-traffic environment.
Can I get LED lighting inside the display cases?+
Yes. Extra Vision cases come standard with LED lighting at 6,000K white light and mirrored doors. Custom LED can also be installed on the sides, top, or all around the interior. RGB color-changing LED is available if you want to create a themed or attention-grabbing display for featured products.
What sizes are available?+
Full Vision cases: 48"×18"×38", 70"×18"×38", and 48"×18"×78" (tall tower). Extra Vision cases: 48"×20"×38", 70"×20"×38", and 48"×20"×72". All sizes are stocked in our warehouse and available to ship immediately.
How is my order shipped?+
All orders ship via freight. Your fixtures are packaged in boxes, palletized, and protected in a custom crate built for your specific order. Assembly instructions are included. The freight carrier will call you ahead of time to schedule a delivery appointment — no surprise drops.
What if something arrives damaged?+
We replace it at no cost. If damage is visible on delivery, photograph everything and note it on the delivery receipt before the driver leaves — then send us the photos. If damage is found after delivery, call us immediately. We file the freight claim and ship a replacement. You're fully covered either way.
How quickly can I receive my order?+
Because we stock everything in our Pompano Beach warehouse, most orders ship within 1–3 business days of payment. Freight transit times vary by destination, but the carrier will schedule a delivery appointment so you know your exact window. Call 1-800-292-5227 if you have a hard opening date and we'll do everything we can to accommodate your timeline.
Will you beat a competitor's price?+
Yes. Call us with the competitor's name and price and we'll factor in the total cost — including freight — and beat it. We've been in business since 1980 and our warehouse volume allows us to price competitively, especially on bulk orders for full store buildouts.
